My name is Rebecca Franks, and I am a freelance writer, journalist and editor based in the UK. I am one of the classical music critics for The Times, and I write for a variety of publications including BBC Music Magazine and Limelight.
I was previously managing editor (2018-20) and reviews editor (2011-18) of BBC Music Magazine, working in print, online and on air.
I’ve also written programme notes for Glyndebourne Opera, the BBC Proms, Kings Place and Edinburgh International Festival. I sub-edit for BBC History Magazine and have worked as a consultant editor for Classical Music and Music Teacher magazines..
I am currently studying for an MA in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa University.
At the end of 2021, I was awarded a Developing Your Creative Practice Grant by Arts Council England.
